Crisis Readiness: Simulation and Spokesperson Training

A confidential client in Myanmar needed to be ready for potential legal cases involving former employees. Ruder Finn Era ran a six-hour crisis simulation and spokesperson training for 11 participants, developed a full crisis communications plan with holding statement, threat assessment and media FAQs, and supported proactive reputation work. Three issues were subsequently managed using the plan.

The challenge

The client faced the prospect of legal cases involving former employees, a scenario that can escalate quickly into public and media scrutiny and can damage a brand's image and stakeholder trust regardless of the legal outcome.

Its leadership needed to be able to manage issues and crises professionally and consistently, protecting the brand and maintaining trust, which meant building both preparedness and confidence before anything happened rather than reacting under pressure.

Our solution

Ruder Finn Era's strategy centred on preparedness and long-term trust. A six-hour crisis simulation exercise and spokesperson training put the leadership team through realistic scenarios, building confidence and agility in high-pressure situations.

A comprehensive crisis communications plan was developed alongside the training, including a holding statement, a threat assessment and media FAQs, so that the company could respond in a timely and consistent way from the first hour of an issue.

At the same time the team advanced the company's reputation proactively, with a thought leadership article and employer branding initiatives that built goodwill in advance and gave stakeholders positive reference points.
