KBZ Bank: Creating Inclusive Growth

KBZ Bank wanted to be seen as the leading local company for gender equality in Myanmar. Ruder Finn Era supported two inclusive growth events in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw with media relations, fact sheets and on-site media management, delivering more than 150 news articles and USD 384,000 in earned media value within one month.

The challenge

KBZ Bank, Myanmar's largest private bank, wanted to be recognised as the leader among local companies for gender equality, and to raise awareness of the KBZ Group's corporate mission of inclusion and diversity, particularly for women.

The bank planned two events, in Yangon and in Nay Pyi Taw, to promote inclusive growth in Myanmar society, with a keynote from one of the country's most senior political leaders at the forum in the capital. The profile of the speaker raised the stakes: coverage would be intense and every message had to be controlled.

Our solution

Ruder Finn Era, then ERA Communications, supported the media relations and communications for both events, framing them around KBZ's mission rather than the occasion alone, so that the coverage carried the bank's commitment to inclusion and diversity.

The team developed fact sheets that gave journalists the substance behind the events, and managed the media on site in both cities, handling accreditation, access and messaging discipline in a high-profile setting. The whole programme, from preparation to reporting, was delivered within a month.
