KBZ Stirling Coleman: Launching a Securities House
KBZ Stirling Coleman, a securities joint venture between KBZ Bank and Singapore's Stirling Coleman, needed a media launch in Myanmar that generated maximum exposure within securities regulations. Ruder Finn Era wrote compliant communications materials, briefed leadership and targeted all top-tier media, bringing 50 media titles to the launch and generating 42 stories.
The challenge
Myanmar's capital market was young and unfamiliar to most of its media and public. KBZ Stirling Coleman (KBZSC), a joint venture between KBZ Bank and Singapore securities firm Stirling Coleman, was opening its doors and wanted a launch that generated maximum exposure for a new kind of financial institution.
Securities communications are tightly regulated. Every claim in the announcement had to comply with Myanmar Securities and Exchange Commission rules, and the leadership needed to be ready for questions about a business that few journalists had covered before.
Our solution
Ruder Finn Era drew on its financial communications background to write the launch communications in line with Myanmar SEC law, translating a technical proposition into a story about access to capital and investment for Myanmar businesses and savers.
The team prepared the full set of materials needed to brief KBZSC's leadership, so spokespeople could explain the joint venture clearly and stay within regulatory boundaries under questioning.
With the message and the spokespeople ready, the launch was pitched to all top-tier media in Myanmar, treating it as a business and economic development story rather than a niche financial one.
The results
Fifty media titles attended the launch and 42 stories followed, introducing KBZSC to Myanmar's business audience.
