Mastercard: Public-Private Partnership on Cybersecurity
Mastercard wanted to be recognised in Cambodia as a leader in digital security and a trusted partner to government and banks. Ruder Finn Era developed speeches for two engagement sessions and a press release with the Association of Banks in Cambodia, reaching more than 150 key stakeholders and securing coverage in over 10 outlets in Khmer, English and French.
The challenge
As Cambodia's digital payments grow, so does exposure to cyber threats, and the institutions that will shape the country's response are policymakers, regulators and banks rather than consumers. Mastercard wanted to raise awareness of cybersecurity among those stakeholders and position itself as a leader in digital security and a trusted partner across the public and private sectors.
The initiative also aimed to foster collaboration between the financial, government and technology sectors to strengthen Cambodia's cybersecurity infrastructure, which required Mastercard to be heard in the right rooms with the right message.
Our solution
Ruder Finn Era positioned Mastercard as a convener rather than a vendor. The team developed an impactful speech and talking points for two engagement sessions held with the Association of Banks in Cambodia, framing cybersecurity as a shared responsibility that Mastercard could help partner banks meet with secure and convenient payment solutions.
The team also supported the association with a press release, and tailored media materials for an audience of more than 150 key stakeholders including policymakers and technology leaders, ensuring the story reached Khmer, English and French language media.
The results
The programme solidified Mastercard's role in fostering public-private partnership and reinforced its commitment to Cambodia's digital security landscape.
