MPT: Mg Pi Ti and Ma Pu Tu Viber Stickers
To launch MPT's Viber channel, Ruder Finn Era created Myanmar's first animated sticker pack, built around two characters, Mg Pi Ti and Ma Pu Tu, a play on how people say MPT. The stickers were downloaded hundreds of thousands of times and used hundreds of thousands of times a month in everyday messages.
The challenge
MPT was launching a new communications channel on Viber, the messaging app most of Myanmar used at the time, and wanted to arrive as a brand that felt young, modern, friendly and part of customers' daily lives rather than as a utility.
Viber stickers were hugely popular, but every brand's stickers were static and forgettable. MPT needed a way into people's conversations that they would actively choose to use.
Our solution
Ruder Finn Era created the first animated sticker pack in the market. The team developed two characters, Mg Pi Ti and Ma Pu Tu, whose names play on the nickname Myanmar people use for MPT, and gave them a set of cute, friendly and uplifting catchphrases suited to daily chat.
The characters gave MPT a personality that customers could send to each other, turning the brand into a small part of millions of private conversations rather than an interruption in a feed.
