Novotel Phnom Penh: Launching a Premium Business Hotel

Novotel opened a new hotel in the heart of Phnom Penh and engaged Ruder Finn Era to establish it as a premium choice for locals and regional travellers. Tailored communications angles for business, hospitality, lifestyle and general news media secured strong engagement, more than USD 15,000 in earned media value and positioning as the hotel for travelling executives.

The challenge

Phnom Penh's hotel market is growing quickly, with international brands competing for a limited pool of business travellers and a local audience that increasingly uses hotels for dining and events. Novotel needed its new property to be recognised from day one as a premium hotel in the heart of the city.

A single launch announcement would not reach all of the audiences that mattered, from executives choosing where to stay to residents choosing where to meet.

Our solution

Ruder Finn Era developed tailored communications angles for each audience rather than one press release for all. Business publications received the story of a premium base for executives, hospitality and lifestyle titles the design, dining and experience story, and general news outlets the opening as a city milestone.

Coordinated media relations and stakeholder engagement around the opening turned those angles into a high rate of media engagement across all four categories of publication, and branding support kept the property's premium positioning consistent across every touchpoint from the opening onward.

The results

USD 15,000+earned media value

The launch established Novotel as the go-to hotel for travelling business executives in Phnom Penh.
