Wall Street English: Opening a Second Yangon Centre
Wall Street English, a global adult English language training provider, opened its second centre in Myanmar in a central Yangon location. Ruder Finn Era launched it with a press conference and venue tour where media interviewed teachers and students, generating 25 print, online and broadcast clippings and USD 17,000 in earned PR value.
The challenge
Wall Street English, a global leader in English language training for adults, was expanding in Myanmar with the launch of its second centre. Demand for English among working adults was rising, and the company had chosen a strategic location in central Yangon surrounded by businesses, restaurants, schools and universities.
The new centre needed awareness and interest among the professionals and students nearby, and the launch had to communicate the quality of the facilities and the teaching in a way that prospective learners would trust.
Our solution
Ruder Finn Era, then ERA Communications, positioned the launch as a chance for the media to experience the centre rather than hear about it. The team organised a press conference and a tour of the venue, designed so that journalists could see the well-equipped facilities for themselves.
Crucially, the media were given access to teachers and students for interviews, so coverage carried the voices of the people who make the method work rather than corporate messaging alone. The story was pitched across print, online and broadcast outlets to reach the working adults and students the centre was built to serve.
The results
The launch generated 25 clippings across print, online and broadcast media, with USD 17,000 in earned PR value.
