Honor 8X: Beyond Limits in Myanmar
Honor, Huawei's sister brand, was seen in Myanmar as a budget option. With the Honor 8X, a mid range phone with flagship features, it wanted to lift that perception. Ruder Finn Era ran an integrated launch across social media, PR and KOL partnerships with prominent local talent. The launch earned 196 clippings and USD 128,000 in PR value.
The challenge
Honor had established itself in Myanmar as an affordable brand, which sold phones but capped how consumers saw it. The Honor 8X, a mid range smartphone carrying flagship features, was the brand's opportunity to move up. The launch had to elevate Honor's perception in the eyes of consumers while still generating mass demand, a balance that required reaching young buyers through the voices they already trusted rather than through specification sheets.
Our solution
Ruder Finn Era created an integrated strategy that paired the product's features with the brand's promise of going beyond limits, so that every piece of content did both jobs at once: showing what the phone could do and reframing what Honor stood for.
Social media, PR and KOL engagement were run as one programme. Partnering with prominent local talent gave the launch reach across multiple young consumer touchpoints, and the earned coverage concentrated on the 8X itself, building the perception shift the brand needed.
The results
The launch generated 196 clippings dedicated to the Honor 8X and a total PR value of USD 128,000.
