Honor: Lead Agency for a Market Entry

Honor entered Myanmar with accessibly priced, flagship featured smartphones but little brand familiarity among local audiences. As lead agency, Ruder Finn Era developed the brand communications strategy, launch strategies for each new phone, and managed partner agencies across KOL, video and advertising. The programme generated more than 1,500 integrated media exposures and USD 1.1 million in earned media value.

The challenge

Honor was breaking into Myanmar with a strong product proposition: flagship features at accessible prices. But as a new brand in a market with limited familiarity with international players, it faced a translation problem. Its brand values and product selling points had been written for other markets, and Honor needed them turned into content and information that Myanmar audiences would understand and respond to, across every touchpoint at once.

Our solution

Ruder Finn Era developed a brand specific communications strategy for Myanmar and ad hoc strategies for the launch of each new phone, so that the overarching brand story stayed consistent while every product got its own moment.

As lead agency, the team managed other agencies to achieve KOL, video and advertising targets, alongside its own duties of media engagement, social media management, design and content development, video production and on the ground engagements for Honor's fans. Bringing the whole ecosystem under one strategy meant the brand spoke with a single voice as it built familiarity from zero.
